Is iOS 6 obsolete?

Hey guys and welcome at another post.

I think every Apple fan knows that iOS 9 is launching at the fall of this year, so I thought that its would be a good idea to talk about iOS 6. I was cleaning my room, and of course when cleaning your room, your going to sort all of your drawers, and in there I saw my iPod Touch 4th generation in mint condition, and I haven't played for it for over a year because I've got my first Android smartphone at that time, and although I really loved it, it was a bit weird to carry two devices so I put it into its retail box, and stored it in one of my drawers but I completely forgot about it. So now in June of 2015 I wanted to take a look back at iOS 6, because it was my the first mobile operating system that I was ever interested in.

To start with, the interface looks so different compared with iOS 7 and 8, but it works almost the same, yes there are much more options in the new operating systems but a kid that has just bought his first iPhone running iOS 8 will just feel at home with iOS 6. But is iOS 6 obsolete. Yes it is… But its still very useful, iMessage and FaceTime still works on iOS 6, and the Safari works very smoothly, but sometimes it wouldn't pages probably but that is very understandable because the OS hasn't got an update since 2013 I think.

I was really surprised with the operating system, it was really advanced for its time, and in 2012 when the operating system came out smartphones weren't really a big deal. I was 12 at the time, so an iPhone just to expensive at the time and if you had one you was one of the popular kids, but I couldn't buy one because they were to expensive to buy with my own allowance. I mean I just bought my first iPhone this Tuesday actually.

But the app support is so bad, you can download some apps, but for I think 70% of the apps you'll need iOS 7 or higher. And thats what making it so obsolete, but this is very understandable. The iPod Touch 4th generation is a device from 2010, so its understandable that it and its OS is not supported by Apple anymore, and because iOS 7 is newer and more powerful the developers of the apps want to use the new abilities of the new operating system, and the same thing is happening with iOS 7 now. iOS 8 has launched almost a year ago, and there are already some apps that aren't supported on iOS 7.

So as I said before iOS 6 is very obsolete, but is it still useable? Yes for some people its still very useable. If you have an iPhone 3GS, and the only                thing you use it for is writing e-mails, browse the web and texting or make phone calls its still very useful, but if your a very heavy iDevice user… Well you can fill in the answers your self.

So thanks for reading everybody, let me know what you think about iOS 6.
